Take My 60-Sec Quiz To Discover Your Actual Dream Career Path Based On Your Unique Career Personality

A simple way for you to connect with anyone

“Mom, I think Nicole is my best friend. She just GETS me.”

“Well, she’s also a therapist… So what does that say about you?” my mom laughed as she responded back. (All of my best friends are therapists, and I’m not even going to try to figure out if that says something about me!! Haha.)
What I really want to talk to you about is being seen. Being understood. And feeling a deep connection to people.
I was speaking to my incredibly inspiring colleague, Sean Stephenson (he did a killer TED talk- tune in here), in one of my business mastermind meetings this month, telling him that for whatever reason that day, I was struggling to feel connected to the people around me. (And by the way, I think he’s the most charismatic person I have ever met.)
“How can you not feel connected to everyone?” He asked. And he continued:“Everyone has emotion, everyone has challenges, we all feel the same variety of experiences… We are all one.”
PREACH! I thought. What he said hit me.
And I realized in that moment that truth is not something you learn, its something you recognize. And if this is the case (which it is), truth already exists inside of you.
Haven’t you ever been in conversation with someone who says something that just hits such a resonant part of you? Where your insides just scream YES!?
It’s because that truth already resides in YOU.
You are so wise and you are so connected to a wisdom that’s available to you at any time.
True story: Sometimes when I want to hear wisdom and connect to truth in my life, I’ll lay on the floor and wait for an answer. It always comes.
Sean then said to me, “If you don’t feel connected to people today, it’s because there’s something inside of you that believes you are separate.”
Woah, woah, woah. Brain: exploding.
I looked at him like that crazy mojo with the big eyes and the red face.
I started to write down all the beliefs I had about people in the room (most of whom were billionaires): they’re more successful than I am, I have nothing to offer them, I’m too spiritual for them…
And then I realized, he’s right. I did see myself as separate.
And then I struck up a conversation with one of those fancy billionaires who I convinced myself I was separate from… And he ended up confiding in me about his relationship with his daughter.
By the end of our conversation, I felt so connected to him and his life. And since then, he’s hopped on the phone with me to help me with my business model—just out of the kindness of his heart.
We’re all one, and we’re made of the same stuff. We all bleed the same blood. We all feel the same pain. We all want to be seen. We all want to be understood. We all want to be loved. We all want to thrive.
I’m you, and you’re me. And by loving you, I guess I’m just loving myself too.
I love you. I see you. I am you.
